Addiction

Played this last night for the first time in a long time.

The new PS3 motion move controller is just what i wanted. Neat. Clean. Move.
Sony's motion controlled gaming setup, PlayStation Move, has arrived in stores, and if you believe the hype, it's everything we wanted the Wii to be...and more. PlayStation Move's 1:1 controller tracking is just as precise as the Wii with its MotionPlus accessory, but also adds body tracking into the mix thanks to the PlayStation Eye camera. The starter bundle, which includes the PlayStation Eye camera, a single Move controller, and the Sports Champions game is available for INR 3650.
Bad part
The controllers are stuck with built-in, non-user replaceable lithium-ion batteries, and there's no automatic sleep mode after a period of inactivity, so you need to manually switch the controllers off when you're not using them. Anyone who's ever had a group of people over to play Wii or peripheral-based games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band will know that you always need a stack of AA batteries on hand to keep the action happening. Sony's choice of built-in batteries means you'll need to make sure everything is charged ahead of time, otherwise you'll have players out of action, waiting for controllers to charge over a USB cable.
The Verdict
At this stage, PlayStation Move is likely a hard sell for any gamers on a budget. The hardware is fantastic, and Sports Champions is a great launch title, but there's nothing truly revolutionary so far...if you've owned or played a Wii extensively, that is.
Personally, I wanted this add-on in my gaming family, n here I am. Looking for a active lazy weekend, where I'd laze around n do nothing except playing with the active games :)

CWG

The CommonWealth Games, Delhi.
Granted we had corruption, missed deadlines, shoddy workmanship, lack of vision & leadership, etc., etc. The TV Media have done their best in highlighting the negativity. Barkha, Rajdeep, Arnab, etc. are falling over each other in showing dirty toilets, collapsed walkways, water logging, and caustic comments by Fennel, Hooper and Co. day in and day out. Is that all they can do ? Do their TRPs matter more than anything else ? Come on guys, there is the positive side too. Completely missing from the TV are the highlighting achievements of past performers, discussions on prospects of likely medal winners, a review of the completed stadia, showcasing of India's multifaceted diversity, etc. etc.

Why haven't we been shown these pictures earlier ?
Here's wishing the games every success, despite the gloom spread by Mani Shanker Ayiar......
This is amazing…Its so splendid.
Who says we can’t host CWG successfully?????? Have a look at this….

What a Fucking place!

"Fucking" is the name of a town in Austria.

Much to the dismay of the town's 104 residents, this unfortunate name has led to numerous acts of vandalism from tourists. Visitors from the English-speaking world have been stealing road signs.

Though the town has had its name for centuries, it wasn't until British and American troops arrived to the area in WWII that the town began to receive notoriety. Back it the 1940s locals were amused by foreigners taking pictures by signs with the town's name. Now they're getting pretty sick of it.

According to one Austrian tourist: "The Germans all want to see Mozart's house in Salzburg. The Americans want to see where The Sound Of Music was filmed. The Japanese want Hitler's birthplace in Braunau. But for the British, it's all about Fucking."

The world we live

Well I was preparing for a presentation for my office work and guess what I got. I was taken aback by looking at a report by a German company called Transparency International which is a non-governmental organization fighting corruption and trying to raise public awareness of it.

Since 1995, Transparency International has published an annual Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI)[ordering the countries of the world according to "the degree to which corruption is perceived to exist among public officials and politicians".The organization defines corruption as "the abuse of entrusted power for private gain".
The 2003 poll covered 133 countries; the 2007 survey, 180. A higher score means less (perceived) corruption. The results show seven out of every ten countries (and nine out of every ten developing countries) with an index of less than 5 points out of 10.

The CPI also shows the ranking of each nation according to the corruption level. My country stands at 84 and it sucks big time. Although this index has drawn increasing criticism in the decade since its launch, leading to calls for the index to be abandoned. This criticism has been directed at the quality of the Index itself, and the lack of actionable insights created from a simple country ranking. Because corruption is willfully hidden, it is impossible to measure directly; instead proxies for corruption are used. The CPI uses an eclectic mix of third-party surveys to sample public perceptions of corruption through a variety of questions, ranging from "Do you trust the government?" to "Is corruption a big problem in your country?"

The use of third-party survey data is a source of criticism. The data can vary widely in methodology and completeness from country to country. The methodology of the Index itself changes from year to year, thus making even basic better-or-worse comparisons difficult. Media outlets, meanwhile, frequently use the raw numbers as a yardstick for government performance, without clarifying what the numbers mean.

The lack of standardization and precision in these surveys is cause for concern. The authors of the CPI argue that averaging enough survey data will solve this; others argue that aggregating imprecise data only masks these flaws without addressing them. In one case, a local Transparency International chapter disowned the index results after a change in methodology caused a country's scores to increase—media reported it as an "improvement". Other critics point out that definitional problems with the term "corruption" makes the tool problematic for social science.

Aquapod

The Aquapod is a unique containment system for marine aquaculture, suited for rough open ocean conditions and a diversity of species. The Aquapod is constructed of individual triangle net panels fastened together in a spheroid shape. Most Aquapod net panels are made of reinforced high density polyethylene with 80% recycled content and covered with coated galvanized steel wire mesh netting. Individual net panels or groups of panels are modified to accommodate other functions, such as access, feeding, fish transfer, grading, and harvesting. The Aquapod functions as a secure containment system for finfish while submerged or partially surfaced.

Random Thougts

I Think Movies Should Have Disclaimers At The Beginning;
Tell Us That Those Events Will Never Occur In Real Life.

I Suppose We're All A Bit Lonely And Broken.
I Suppose Most Of Us Just Go Through Life,
Waiting For Things To Get Better.
For Some They Do, For Others They Don't.
I Reckon It's Up To Us To Make The Best Out Of It.
Question Is, Am I Strong Enough To Try?

Movie

Favorite Movie # 100: Run Lola Run

When we meet Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu), a small time courier for big time gangster, he is working a standard pick-up/drop-off, and everything is going just fine. When the job is done, all he has to do is wait for his girlfriend, the orange-haired punk girl Lola (Franka Potente), to pick him up. But today is unlike any other day. Due to an incident while she was buying a pack of cigarettes, Lola is late, and Lola is never late. One stroke of bad luck leads to another, and by the time Manni calls Lola, he is at a pay phone with a big, big, big problem. His unforgiving boss will meet him in twenty minutes to pick up 100,000 marks; money that Manni, suddenly, does not have.
Lola rushes out of her apartment and down the street, attempting to get to Manni and, somehow, pick up 100,000 marks on the way. She tears through the city, in a whirl of bums, nuns, babies and guns. Down sidewalks, into offices, through traffic and back again. As her feet slap the pavement and the seconds tick down, the tiniest choices become life altering (or ending) decisions, and the fine line between fate and fortune begins to blur.
A must see..Gripping from start to end..full of thrills..just cant miss a moment
Cheers

Kiss

Through a serious of [mis]fortunes, Cupid and Psyche fell in love.

Through the interference of Venus, Cupid’s jealous mother, Cupid drove Psyche away after she disobeyed his wishes by gazing upon him.

Overcome with despair, Psyche placed herself in the service of Venus, who ordered her to go to Persephone, Queen of the Underworld, and fetch a flask of beauty. Forbidden to open it, yet overcome with temptation, Psyche opened the flask, breathed in its fragrance, which was deathly to mortals, and perished.

Cupid, seeing Psyche fall, rushed frantically to her, and, after touching her with an arrow, and kissing her, he brought her back to life.

Who can you bring back to life?

Cute

I'm not a prophet or a stone aged man, just a mortal with potential of a superman. I'm living on...
You can't relate to a superhero, to a superman, but you can identify with a real man who in times of crisis draws forth some extraordinary quality from within himself and triumphs but only after a struggle.

Love

Wont ever let you go...

Gorilla Killings

This picture has been taken by Brent Stirton, a senior staff photographer for the assignment division of Getty Images, New York. This picture is about the Conservation Rangers who are from an Anti-Poaching unit working with locals to evacuate the bodies of four Mountain Gorillas killed in mysterious circumstances in the park, Virunga National Park, Eastern Congo, 24 July 2007.
A Silver-Back Alpha male, the leader of the group was shot, three females were also killed. Two of the females had babies and the other was pregnant. The two babies were not found and it is thought that they will have died of stress and dehydration. The motivation for the killing is not known but it is suspected that there are political motivations. The local illegal Charcoal industry clashes with conservation efforts in this very poor area and embattled Rangers have been threatened, tortured and killed as a result of this clash of political and economic wills. Over 100 Rangers have been killed in the last ten years as part of their courageous efforts to protect the Gorillas of Virunga, one of the world's most endangered species.
The Congolese Rangers in this particular group are working with Wildlife Direct, a Conservation organization. The Rangers receive a salary based on donations to Wildlife Direct and perform one of the most dangerous jobs in the world of wildlife conservation. The DRC has the highest toll of human casualties of any country since the Second World War, a figure in the region of 4.6 million dead as a result of war and resultant displacement, disease, starvation and ongoing militia violence.

Scott's Hut

Nearly a century after Capt. Robert Falcon Scott explored the southern continent, experts are working to save the British explorer's wooden hut (pictured on Ross Island, Antarctica, in August 2006) and three others in the area from slipping under the snow forever.
The sanctuary measures 50 feet (15 meters) long and 25 feet (7.6 meters) wide and was built to house up to 33 men.

Scott and his crew stayed at the hut before their ill-fated Terra Nova expedition to the South Pole in January 1912. Scott and four others died after being beaten to the pole by Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen.
"Had we lived," Scott wrote in March 1912 in a message found with his body, "I should have had a tale to tell of the hardihood, endurance and courage of my companions which would have stirred the heart of every Englishman.”

Leaving Terra Nova

Captain Scott and three of his companions prepare to explore Antarctica's Western Mountains in a September 15, 1911, photograph.
Though most people will never visit the huts, the Antarctic Heritage Trust says the buildings have intrinsic value that make them worth preserving.
Scott's hut won't be completely renovated—just maintained to ensure it survives for future generations, according to the Antarctic Heritage Trust's Morgan. About 300 to 400 tourists visit Scott's last home annually.
"They're icons from a stage of exploration of worldwide significance,” Morgan said. "They are unparalleled.”
